WHAT IS AYURVEDA?

Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest holistic healing systems and is based on the theory that disease results from an imbalance of the body’s life force (prana). It aims to restore balance within the body. It believes that every person is made of five basic elements found in the universe: space, air, fire, water, and earth. These combine in the human body to form three life forces or energies, called doshas. They influence how our bodies and minds function. The Vata dosha (space and air); Pitta dosha (fire and water); and Kapha dosha (water and earth). The balance of prana is said to be determined by the equilibrium of these 3 bodily quailities.

Everyone inherits a unique mix of the three doshas. But one is usually stronger than the others. Each one controls a different body function. It’s believed that your chances of getting sick -- and the health issues you develop -- are linked to the balance of our doshas.

In this retreat, you will have the opportunity to determine which dosha(s) are most dominant for you to and gain practical tools as how to best support yourself mentally and physically.

ABOUT YELAPA

Yelapa is a rare and dreamy find. One of the few remaining locally owned villages in the world, Yelapa takes pride in its “untouched” nature. Free of cars, roads and ATMS, this quaint and charming destination has become an oasis for those seeking reprieve from the hustle and bustle of both city and suburb life. With sandy beaches, lush jungle, delicious food, and delightful locals, the opportunities to revel in the bare necessities are endless. Not only that, but Yelapa has a way of leading one back to what is meaningful, life enhancing, and true for the soul. It is said that "the scariest thing you will find in Yelapa is yourself!"

ACCESSIBILITY

Yelapa feels like a island with 95% of its incoming and outgoing transportation happenning via boat/water taxis. Yelapa is free of cars and paved roads, which adds to its charm and uniqueness and that also makes it a more physically mobile place to be. It is about a quarter mile to the town pueblo from Casa Isabel and about a mile and a half from Casa Isabel to the main beach. Most walking will be on cobblestone streets, dirt paths, and on stairs (that aren't always  smooth or even). Most night-wallking requires flashlights or headlamps.

RETREAT LOCATION: Casa Isabel

PRIVATE CASITA

Most of Casa Isabel's housing options are Private Casitas. Meaning that they are self-contained "little houses," equipped with private bathrooms and kitchens. The private casistas are all unique and vary in style, artistic design, and view. All of them (except "the Nook") have either a queen or king size bed. Some of these beds are hanging beds (Passion Palace and Beach house). In addition, some of the casitas also have twin sofas that can easily be another bed. Private Casitas are great options for people who are happy to share a bed and/or are willing to utilize the twin sofa as another sleeping arrangement.

SHARED CASITA

A shared casista is "self-contained little house" that has more than one queen or king size bed and that (more or less) has separate rooms. There are two Shared Casita options at Casa Isabel: Casa Jade and Casa Annie's.

Casa Jade has 2 queen beds, 1 king bed, and 1 twin bed

Casa Annies has 2 queen beds and 1 twin bed
