Casa Isabel is Yelapa’s oldest and most iconic guesthouse. Created over 53 years ago by Isabel Jordan who fell in love with Yelapa and its culture and made it a home for herself as well as a sanctuary for artists, healers and travelers from all over the world. Although Isabel has passed along, her spirit lives on through the people who knew her and still come to visit to share stories of their incredible experiences here.

Casa Isabel was been fully, sustainably, and artfully reconstructed in 2009. Huge trees form a jungle canopy over an enchanting garden hillside. It offers a variety of unique ocean-view accommodations, their privacy insured by lush shrubs and flowering vines planted many years ago by Isabel herself. Each casita has its own special charm and artsy details and is oriented around the original structure Casa Central. This is the heartbeat of the guesthouse.

Kara Johnson

Personal Trainer, Coach, Fitness Professional

From Kara...

I have been involved in athletics since age 6 when I joined swim team for the first time. After years in aquatics  and other organized sports I fell in love with running, which changed my life. In the decade that followed I ran many races, including five marathons (one being the Boston Marathon in 2008). I also dabbled in triathlons. Also during this decade I graduated college and became a first grade teacher. I was invited to my first spin class in 2007 by a good friend. I was instantly in love and became a faithful group x participant until I was asked if I wanted to teach. Group fitness, especially indoor cycling, has been a passion and way of life for me ever since. Twelve years later, I am still as excited about instructing as day one. I stepped down from my classroom teaching position when my first of four children was born in 2012. This opened the door for me to continue pursuing a fitness career as I was primarily home with my son. I have now taught just about everything—Cycle, R.I.P.P.E.D., Turbo Kick, Pump, Barre, Cardio Yoga, HIIT and Silver Sneakers.

Certifications: AFAA Group Fitness Instructor, Mad Dogg Spinning, Barre Above, Cardio Yoga, Silver Sneakers

Specialties: As a singer, musician and songwriter I am meticulous about my music selection and creating an uplifting emotional experience for class participants.

Fitness Moto/Philosophy: "True fitness is holistic. It’s about stepping into and fully embracing our best selves and how we are designed, both inside and out."

Diane Kenney

Personal Trainer, Yoga Instructor, Coach

From Diane...

I have been coaching since 2012. My passion for fitness started as a teenager. I got a membership at a local gym and quickly fell in love with both group fitness and weightlifting. In high school I joined the swim team competing in freestyle and backstroke. I became a lifeguard and that lead to my very first teaching experience, water aerobics, at the young age of 16. I left the pool and went to school to become a Veterinary Technician, which was my career for 12 years, until I had my first child. I became a stay home mom. A year after my second child I decided to apply for a Group Fitness position at my local gym and I have not looked back.

Certifications: NASM Personal Training, Yoga Alliance 200 YTT, Schwinn Indoor Cycling, Barre Above, Stretching Specialist

Specialties: Obsessive about music (makes or breaks a class for me)

Fitness Moto/Philosophy: Don’t be afraid of being a beginner!

The Vision

My vision is to provide an inspiring and beautiful environment for the nourishment of mind, body and soul. My team and I offer a sacred space in a breathtakingly beautiful environment for all who wish to experience the benefits of intentional wellness, new and fun experiences, and healthy community.

I Believe...

in the power of nourishing experiences, healthy relationships, and in the immersion of nature as a medicinal act. I believe that taking time to fill one's cup is an act of honoring one's whole Self and the world at large.  And that through these experiences we can make contact with our inner wisdom, which allows us to deal with life on life’s terms with an open heart and curious mind. Things begin to flow, we are able to let go of rigid structures and unwanted patterns and get into rhythm with the natural flow of blissful living.

SEE YOU IN PARADISE!

"This was a wonderful all levels yoga retreat. There was a great balance of activity and rest allowing for you to take what you need. Yelapa creates the perfect setting for healing and even unexpected revelations! The overall healing from this retreat is invaluable but fortunately comes at a price point that is manageable for most westerners."

Amber
"Beautiful location, wonderful food- awesome yoga! Would do it again!"

Megan

"I went in not knowing what to expect and left feeling supported, strong, and with some new knowledge about myself. There were experiences I wouldn’t have had anywhere else that I really loved. I have new friendships, and was so glad to see that part of Mexico, it was delightful. I said many times that the thought and care that went into planning each day was truly exceptional"
